So, we've had the house on the market for two weeks now, and I'm beginning to feel like the guy in the Warner Bros. cartoon who finds a singing frog. You remember, the one who only sings for him? He sinks all kinds of money into a theatre, promotion, and yes, free beer, to entice people in to see the frog.
We've had five showings (including one this morning for which I had exactly 30 minutes to prep for) and the comments back have been ambivalent thus far. Nice landscaping.... wish there was a laundry room (me too!)...just started looking......
I truly have been praying for this house to be a blessing to the people who move into it, b/c it will be to that individual who is willing to sit down and enjoy it's melody. We've lived here for more years than I ever anticipated and I'm content to live here longer. After having looked at a couple of houses ourselves, there is a certain comfort to our wooded backyard (a hard find) and the new HVAC unit and water heater that we have put in. I know where all the scuffs on the wall have come from and am familiar with the dirt in the corners. I'm definitely looking forward to finding our first house together, but not all the work and millions of trips to Home Depot for paint. I guess having been here for 8 plus years has made me comfortable and I have come to appreciate how easy it is just to come home.
In the meantime, you may find me driving around the town with a sockless child and a bewildered dog, singing:
" Hello! ma baby, Hello! Ma honey, Hello! ma ragtime gal.
Send me a kiss by wire, baby my heart's on fire!
If you refuse me, Honey, you'll lose me, then you'll be left alone;
Oh baby, telephone and tell me I'm your own."
